Free observation decks on the 45th floor (202m) of the Tokyo city hall's twin-tower No.1 Building. On clear days you can see Skytree, Meiji Shrine and even Mt Fuji. The single best free skyline view in central Tokyo, with a projection-mapping light show on the building's facade in the evenings.
Why children love it: Big-city views for zero yen, spotting landmarks and Mt Fuji, and fast elevators — a low-stakes stop that won't cost a family anything.
Honest drawbacks: Decks rotate closures (South & North on different days), so check which is open; no thrill factor beyond the view; can be busy at sunset.
